Q1.         When and where was Helen Keller born? And how did she become blind and deaf?

Ans.      Helen Keller was born in 1880 in a little town in the United States of America. To the age of two, she was quite a normal child. She could see and hear everything. In February 1882 she fell dangerously ill and became blind and deaf.

Q2.         Who was Miss Sullivan and how did she teach Helen?

Ans.      Miss Sullivan was a teacher of Helen Keller. . She had herself blind, when she was a child but afterward she got her eyesight back and she taught Helen by touching and feeling method. One day she took Helen to the bank and put her hand into the water.


Q3.         What do you know about Helen’s education?

Ans.      At first, she studied at home under Miss Sullivan. At eight, she was sent to school for the blind children. She was sent to college and then Harvard University from where she graduated.

Q4.         Why Helen considered to be a wonderful lady?

Ans.      Helen Keller is considered to be a wonderful lady because when she was two years old, she became blind and deaf but throughout her courage she learnt reading, writing and speaking. She compromised with her fate. She worked hard and passed all the examination easily and proved to be a better student than many others.

Q5.         How did Helen learn to speak?

Ans.      At the age of eight, she was sent to a school of blind children. Where her teachers put the Helen hand on her own lips and feel the movement of the lips at the time of speaking. She did many exercises and at the age of ten she was able to speak.

Q6.         When did she visit Pakistan and why?

Ans.      Helen Keller visited Pakistan in 1956. She came to our country to help the blind and deaf persons.

Q7.         What is the message did she give to blind and deaf children?

Ans.      Helen gave the message to blind and deaf children that “Always be happy and cheerful, never curse you fate. You can do everything in this world”.
